One Thousand Days Have Passed Since the Ban on Girls’ Education in Afghanistan

Bayan News – A number of human rights organizations say that despite the passage of one thousand days since the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education, no action has been taken to reopen girls’ schools in Afghanistan.

The human rights organization “Avaaz” wrote on the X platform on Tuesday (June 11) that it has launched a campaign called “Iqra” to encourage the global community to put pressure on the Taliban.

The organization said: “It has been 1000 days that girls in Afghanistan have been deprived of the right to education. Will the deprivation of school for a few thousand days and will the schools be reopened.”

Avaaz has asked the people of the country to join this campaign by raising this question.

After taking power in Afghanistan, the Taliban, in their first measures, banned girls above the sixth grade from education and closed the doors of schools.

Although this action by the Taliban elicited national and international reactions and opposition, the Taliban did not give in to these pressures.

It is unclear whether female students in Afghanistan will return to schools again or not.
