Iran’s Foreign Minister: The Taliban does not allow interference by external players

Bayan News – Ali Baqeri-Kani, the acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, held a conversation with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Taliban, last night (June 16).

The acting Iranian Foreign Minister wrote on the X platform: “The people of Afghanistan are the main decision-makers of their country in cooperation with the neighboring and regional countries, and they do not allow interference by external players who have a history of destructive interventions and are responsible for the current problems.”

This Iranian official further wrote that given the civilizational and cultural commonalities between the two countries, they are striving to cooperate and coordinate with each other to maintain regional stability and security.

This was the first telephone contact between the acting Iranian Foreign Minister and the Taliban Foreign Minister.

Ali Bagheri took the helm of the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic apparatus after the death of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in an air incident.
