The Iranian presidential election has gone to a second round
Bayan News – According to Iranian media outlets, citing the election headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, the presidential election has gone to a second round as none of the candidates secured a majority of the votes.
According to the report by IRNA, the Iranian Interior Ministry’s election headquarters announced on Saturday (June 29) that none of the candidates secured a majority of the votes, and therefore the election has proceeded to a second round.
In this election, Masoud Pezeshkian, the reformist candidate, and Saeed Jalili, the conservative candidate, received the most votes and will compete against each other in the second round.
Masoud Pezeshkian received 10,415,298 votes, and Saeed Jalili received 9,473,298 votes.
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi were the other presidential candidates, who received 3,383,340 votes and 206,397 votes, respectively.
The second round of the Iranian presidential election will be held on July 15.
According to the IRNA report, 24,535,185 votes were cast in 58,640 polling stations across 482 cities in Iran.
