President of Uzbekistan: The global community has forgotten Afghanistan
Bayan News – Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, has recently stated that due to international conflicts, Afghanistan has been excluded from the attention of the global community.
The President of Uzbekistan made these remarks at the meeting of the Organization of Turkic States held in Azerbaijan. In his statements, he called for the release of Afghanistan’s frozen assets.
The countries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan are the main members of the Organization of Turkic States.
Mirziyoyev added at this meeting: “Unfortunately, due to the escalation of wars and conflicts in other regions of the world, Afghanistan, a neighboring country where millions of Turkic people live, has been excluded from the view of the global community.”
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that returning Afghanistan’s frozen assets will help improve the situation in Afghanistan.
Mr. Mirziyoyev suggested that a common and unified approach towards Afghanistan should be on the agenda of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States.
Uzbekistan, like other countries, does not recognize the Taliban, but has relatively close relations with this group.
The President of Uzbekistan added that his country will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
