Taliban Claim: ISIS Members Planning Ashura Attack Arrested
Bayan news – The Taliban-affiliated media outlet “Almarsad” has claimed in a report that Taliban intelligence has prevented terrorist attacks by ISIS-Khorasan branch on Ashura ceremonies in Kabul city.
This media outlet reported on Sutarday (July 14) that some ISIS members had planned and organized attacks on the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein in Kabul.
According to the report, Taliban intelligence authorities have stated that the hideout of ISIS members in the fifth district of Kabul was destroyed four days ago.
The report related to the Taliban also mentioned that ISIS members have been arrested, but it is not clear how many of them were detained.
Based on this report, the leader of ISIS’s hideout in Kabul is an Afghan citizen appointed by the ISIS-Khorasan branch to carry out terrorist attacks.
On the other hand, the Taliban police commander in Kabul has confirmed this report and added that a large number of weapons and explosives were seized from the ISIS individuals.
Khalid Zadran, a Taliban security official in Kabul, has stated that ISIS individuals have been arrested as a result of a special operation by their intelligence forces and their hideout has been destroyed.
The ISIS-Khorasan branch has carried out several terrorist attacks in the cities of Kabul, Herat, and Baghlan on Shiite centers and mosques in the past year.
ISIS members are being arrested in Kabul while senior Taliban officials have consistently claimed in recent months that ISIS has no physical presence in Afghanistan.
