Migration Organization: Over Half a Million Have Left Afghanistan in Three Months

Bayan News – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that in the second half of the current year, 532,854 people have left Afghanistan.

This organization said on Thursday (July 18) in a report that during this period, more than 858,000 people have entered Afghanistan.

According to the International Organization for Migration, this report covers the entry and exit at the borders of Afghanistan between early April and the end of June of this year.

The report states that the measures taken by Iran and Pakistan to forcibly deport undocumented migrants have led to an increase in returnees.

The International Organization for Migration interviewed more than 81,000 people and asked about the reasons for their entry and exit, the main reasons for the return of migrants from Iran and Pakistan being insecurity in their place of residence and visiting their families.

On the other hand, the report states that Afghan citizens have left the country due to economic issues, visiting family members, treatment, and events.

The International Organization for Migration said that most of the traffic at the border with Pakistan is short-term, and most of the traffic at the border with Iran is long-term.
