Iran has accepted the Taliban’s appointed diplomat for the Afghan consulate in Mashhad
Bayan News – According to Iranian media reports, the Islamic Republic has accepted the Taliban’s appointed diplomat for the consulate in the city of Mashhad. It is said that this Taliban diplomat will soon begin his work, replacing Abdul Jabbar Ansari.
The Iranian media reports state that the Taliban has also agreed that, based on Iran’s request, the process of introducing, approving and accepting diplomats will be carried out in accordance with the Vienna Convention mechanism.
According to the reports, the mission of Abdul Jabbar Ansari, the current consul general of the Afghan consulate in Mashhad, has ended, and the Taliban has, in accordance with the legal mechanism defined in the Vienna Convention, introduced his replacement as the “caretaker” of this consulate.
However, about two months ago, the Taliban had dismissed Mr. Ansari from his position as the consul general of Afghanistan in Mashhad, and introduced Nasir Ahmad Haqqani as the inspector of this consulate instead of him. The dismissal of Mr. Ansari from the Afghan consulate in Mashhad had created tensions between the Taliban and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
