Taliban’s Minister of Refugees: Organizations should reduce their administrative costs
Bayan News – Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Refugees, said in a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that organizations should reduce their administrative costs in order to assist those in need.
This meeting between Haqqani and Filippo Grandi, the new UNHCR High Commissioner, took place on Saturday (July 27).
According to the Taliban’s Minister of Refugees, the current Kabul government is paying a lot of attention to returnees and has a program for their resettlement and permanent integration.
He said that cooperation with the United Nations is needed to implement the Taliban’s programs for assisting returned migrants.
Haqqani stated: “Assistance should be given in return for work, partner institutions should control their administrative costs and focus more on the problems of those in need.”
Separately, the Ministry of Refugees quoted Filippo Grandi as saying that in order to address the problems of migrants, coordination with host countries is necessary and health and education services should be increased.
