The Taliban: We are close to an agreement with the World Bank to start the “Casa-1000” project
Bayan News – Officials from the Taliban’s Ministry of Energy and Water say that the ministry has reached agreements to start the Casa-1000 project with the World Bank.
Farhad Mahmudi, the head of programs at the Taliban’s Ministry of Energy and Water, said in a recent press conference that the ministry is in contact with the World Bank and the practical work on the project will soon begin.
Mahmudi added that with the implementation of this project, the Taliban government will have an annual income of $65 million.
This Taliban energy and water official said: “We are in contact with the World Bank, agreements have been made from the World Bank’s side, [this project] will soon start and will be completed by 2026.”
This Taliban official said that with the completion and implementation of this project, they will have an annual income of $65 million from the transit of electricity to Pakistan.
The World Bank announced last February that it would start the construction of the Casa-1000 power transmission line project at the request of the participating countries, each of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan, in Afghanistan.
According to the World Bank’s decision, all construction payments in the Casa-1000 project will be managed outside of Afghanistan and away from the Taliban’s administrative systems.
