Pakistan Officials: If the Taliban hands over TTP members, the problem will be resolved
Bayan News – Senior officials of the Pakistani government have recently stated that if the Taliban government delivers members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to Islamabad, the problem between the two countries will be solved.
Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, in an interview with the media outlet “Independent Urdu,” added that actions need to be taken against the fighters of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This interview with Durrani was published on Wednesday (August 14).
The Special Representative of Pakistan said, “Individuals affiliated with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan present in Afghanistan need to be acted against; if they are handed over to us, the problem will be resolved.”
This Pakistani official reiterated the claim that TTP bases are located within Afghan territory and that the weapons they use appear to be suspicious.
Meanwhile, Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, emphasized that Islamabad seeks good relations with Kabul, given the Taliban’s dominance in Afghanistan.
The Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan stated on Tuesday (August 13) during a meeting held to commemorate Pakistan’s Independence Day that the Taliban should not prefer the TTP over their “old neighbor” and “brother.”
He said, “Since terrorist groups accept neither sharia nor the constitution, Pakistan does not recognize them as Pakistanis either.”
This Pakistani general also discussed the situation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan borders. It is noteworthy that since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the TTP has intensified its attacks against the Pakistani government over the past three years, casting a shadow over the relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
