Senior Taliban officials: The world should engage with us

Bayan News – Senior Taliban officials have called on the international community to engage with them at an event marking the third anniversary of Afghanistan’s collapse.

The Taliban held a ceremony on Wednesday (August 14) at the Bagram military base to mark their takeover and the collapse of the previous Afghan government.

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister, described the collapse of the former Afghan system as a historic day for the country.

He emphasized in his remarks that the ground for engagement with the Taliban is now greater than ever before.

Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister, also stated at the event that in the past, any political changes had led to the factors of war.

According to this Taliban official, the Taliban’s main goal in the struggle was to end the “American occupation” of Afghanistan and establish an Islamic system.
