Biden hopes Gaza ceasefire deal will be finalized by the end of next week
Bayan News – International media reported, citing U.S. officials, that U.S. President Joe Biden is hopeful that the ceasefire agreement in Gaza will be finalized by the end of the current week.
According to Al-Arabiya, following a positive assessment by U.S. President Joe Biden of the Gaza ceasefire negotiations in Doha, it appears that Washington intends to finalize this agreement by the end of next week.
According to the report, the U.S. President is trying to deter Iran and Hezbollah from carrying out any attacks on Israel that could undermine these efforts.
On the other hand, one of the informed officials told Axios that the agreement on prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza is ready for implementation. He added that the new proposal raised in the Doha negotiations is currently the best option, and in addition to the release of the hostages, it will help alleviate the problems of the Gaza residents.
Hamas reaction
However, in reaction to these developments, Sami Abu Zuhri, one of the Hamas leaders, described the U.S. assessment of the Doha negotiations as a “delusion” and stressed that there is no real agreement or serious negotiations in progress, and only “U.S. orders” are being imposed on Hamas.
In an interview with the French news agency, he accused Israel of sabotaging all efforts to reach an agreement.
These statements come as Egypt, along with the U.S. and Qatar, are trying to get Hamas and Israel to agree on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal; negotiations that were held last Thursday and Friday in Doha, with the participation of senior Israeli officials and representatives from the U.S. and Qatar, yielded positive results, although Hamas did not participate in these meetings.
