The Gaza Crisis; US Secretary of State Visits Israel for the Ninth Time
Bayan News – Amid efforts to reach a Gaza ceasefire, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken traveled to Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, on Saturday evening (August 17).
According to reports, this visit by the US Secretary of State is part of Washington’s efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Blinken’s ninth visit comes two days after the Doha talks on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which US officials say saw progress.
Meanwhile, the office of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has also expressed cautious optimism about the possibility of progress in the temporary ceasefire negotiations.
The statement said: “We hope that the intense pressure the United States and mediators are exerting on Hamas will lead to the removal of this group’s opposition to the US proposal and a breakthrough in the negotiations.”
It is worth noting that recently, US President Joe Biden expressed hope that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas would be reached by the end of next week.
