Bayan News – Following the outbreak of “monkeypox” in some countries, the World Health Organization has requested financial cooperation from member countries to prevent this disease.
On Saturday (September 3), the organization urged member countries to prioritize immediate actions in their efforts to combat monkeypox.
The World Health Organization has specifically stated that $135 million is needed to eradicate this disease.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, stated that the organization has prepared a plan to prevent the spread of monkeypox, which will require at least $135 million in the next six months.
The Director-General of WHO also acknowledged that the new strain of monkeypox is controllable, but its eradication requires a “comprehensive and coordinated” response from all member countries of the organization.
According to published reports, monkeypox, known as “simian smallpox,” is a deadly disease that has been spreading in Congo since last year.
So far, 27,000 cases of infection and 1,100 deaths have been reported in this country.
