Telegram CEO Banned from Leaving France
Bayan News – French media reports that Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, has been banned from leaving France by the government due to multiple alleged violations.
According to AFP, the Telegram CEO was accused yesterday (August 28) of several instances of failing to control the spread of “extremist and illegal content” on the messaging platform after a hearing with judges investigating his case.
The Paris prosecutor’s office stated that the 39-year-old Durov was released on a €5 million bail after four days of temporary police detention but must report to a police station in the city twice a week.
Pavel Durov was arrested late Saturday at “Le Bourget” Airport outside Paris and was subsequently interrogated by the French police in the following days.
The Telegram messaging service stated that Mr. Durov has nothing to hide and that the platform fully complies with European Union digital laws.
