The film “Leila” won an award at the Denmark Festival

Bayan News – The documentary “Leila,” directed by Fariba Heydari, an Afghan poet and filmmaker, has been awarded the annual Best Short Documentary prize in the international section of the Denmark Film Festival from among 25 selected films.

According to reports, this announcement was made by the Denmark Film Festival on Saturday (August 31).

It is said that the festival took place a few days ago in the city of “Odense,” Denmark.

According to published information, this year’s Denmark Film Festival received 148 short films from 40 countries around the world.

The documentary “Leila” portrays the life and struggles of a 64-year-old transgender Afghan woman.

In this film, Ms. Heydari has attempted to depict the suffering of a woman as a transgender individual in traditional Afghan society.

Last year in the month of December, the film “Leila” also received the Best Short Documentary award at the “Goldback” Film Festival in Sweden.

It should be noted that this Afghan director currently lives in Sweden.
