Interim Leader of Bangladesh: We Will Not Allow Bangladesh to Become Another Afghanistan

Bayan News – Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner and interim leader of Bangladesh, says he will not allow his country to become another Afghanistan.

These remarks from the interim leader of Bangladesh come amid rising attacks on Hindus in the country following the escape of Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister.

First Post reported on Friday (September 6) that the interim leader described the attacks on the Hindu minority in Bangladesh as politically motivated.

The interim leader has urged India to dismiss the narrative that Bangladesh will become another Afghanistan without Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.

Muhammad Yunus also expressed that his country wishes to maintain good relations with India.

Reuters reported in mid-August, citing Indian government sources, that Sheikh Hasina, the resigned Prime Minister of Bangladesh who fled the country, will remain in India.

According to reports, attacks on the Hindu minority in Bangladesh have increased following Sheikh Hasina’s escape to India.
