An American citizen was killed by gunfire from Israeli military forces

Bayan News – International media have reported that a 26-year-old American-Turkish woman was killed by gunfire from Israeli military forces during a protest in the West Bank.

Reports published early Saturday (September 7) identify the woman as Aisha Noor Ozgi Egi. It is said that she was immediately transferred to Rafidia Hospital in the West Bank.

Fouad Nafa, the hospital director, stated: “An American citizen over 20 years old lost her life due to a gunshot wound to the head.”

This American citizen had participated in a protest against the expansion of Israeli settlements in the city of Beita, near Nablus.

Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, described Ms. Egi’s death as a “tragic loss” and said that more information would be shared later and that actions would be taken if necessary.

Earlier, Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, confirmed the identity of the woman and said, “Washington is gathering more information about the circumstances of her death.”

Jack Lew, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, emphasized that there is no higher priority than the safety of American citizens.

According to reports, Aisha Noor Ozgi Egi was born in the city of Antalya, Turkey.
