Erdogan: Islamic countries must form a coalition against Israel’s threats
Bayan News – Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, has called on leaders of Islamic countries to form a coalition against the growing threats from Israel in unprecedented statements.
In response to the killing of an American-Turkish citizen by the Israeli army, the Turkish president urged Islamic countries to unite against the threats and expansionism of Israel.
While speaking at a ceremony of the Islamic Schools Association in Istanbul yesterday (September 8), Erdogan said, “The only step that will stop Israeli imperialism and state-sponsored terrorism is the unity of Islamic countries.”
He mentioned that Turkey’s recent actions to improve relations with Egypt and Syria aim to “establish a line of solidarity against the growing threat of expansionism,” which he claims also threatens Lebanon and Syria.
Additionally, Erdogan hosted Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the President of Egypt, in Ankara this week, where they discussed the Gaza war and ways to further mend the cold relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Foreign Minister reacted to Erdogan’s statements, calling them a dangerous and provocative lie.
According to the Israeli Foreign Minister, the Turkish leader has cooperated with Iran for years to undermine moderate Arab regimes in the region.
Following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, tensions between Tel Aviv and Ankara have also escalated.
