Iranian Official: Two Million Illegal Immigrants Will Be Expelled from Iran in the Next Six Months
Bayan News – Ahmadreza Radan, the commander of the Iranian police, stated that by the end of this solar year, approximately two million illegal immigrants will be expelled from the country.
On Tuesday (September 10), he added to Iran’s state television that the number of unauthorized foreign nationals in Iran has been determined.
Iranian officials refer to Afghan migrants as “taba,” and at the same time, the majority of illegal immigrants in Iran are Afghans.
This Iranian official noted that the final figures on this matter should be announced by the Foreign Nationals Organization of the Iranian Ministry of Interior.
Eskandar Momeni, the Iranian Minister of Interior, said last night in a television program that the volume of Afghan migrants entering Iran is unsustainable.
He stated that they plan to organize the issue of Afghan migrants quickly and without impulsive decisions.
The Minister of Interior mentioned that their top priority is to deal with those who have entered illegally and are living in the country without legal permission.
He added: “This is no longer sustainable for our country; everyone is suffering, and many job opportunities are being taken away.”
Moreover, the Iranian Parliament has recently approved a proposal stating that the population of foreign nationals should be reduced by 10 percent annually.
