Third anniversary of the ban on girls’ education: Women are the true force of resistance against the Taliban
Bayan News – As the third anniversary of the ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan approaches, Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has described women and girls as the true peaceful force against the Taliban’s policies.
On Sunday (September 15), Ms. Yousafzai issued a message on the platform X, urging the global community to hold the Taliban accountable for their strict policies.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner wrote: “It is hard to believe that it has been three years since the Taliban banned girls from attending school. This action is part of their cruel and misogynistic measures to prevent the participation of women and girls in work, education, and public life.”
Yousafzai addressed the women and girls of Afghanistan, saying: “You are the true force of resistance against the Taliban. You do not give up hope. Millions of you are still seeking education, even if you have been deprived of school.”
She continued: “You find creative ways to learn at home through mobile phones, television, and radio. Your strength and courage are what motivate me and keep me hopeful.”
It is worth mentioning that three years ago, the Taliban initially closed schools for girls above sixth grade and then barred women from universities.
