The Taliban have requested to participate in the BRICS summit

Bayan News – International media have reported that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban, has sent a letter to the President of Russia requesting participation in the BRICS summit.

This was reported on Monday (September 23) by the media outlet Kommersant.ge.

Some Taliban diplomatic officials have confirmed the matter, stating that the current government in Kabul seeks to be present at all international summits.

Suhail Shaheen, head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, added: “It is important that we participate in such meetings and forums to present our views and positions on the topics under discussion.”

According to the head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, the group has been the victim of a smear campaign by some media outlets.

Meanwhile, the BRICS summit, with the participation of leaders from the member countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), is scheduled to take place from the 22nd to the 24th of next month in Kazan, Russia.
