Mujahid: We Demand Participation in the BRICS Summit
Bayan News – Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban interim government, states that the current government of Afghanistan seeks to participate in the BRICS summit.
Mujahid said on Wednesday (September 25) in an interview with Afghanistan National Television that the Taliban wants to discuss economic issues by attending the BRICS summit.
The Taliban spokesperson added, “The BRICS organization has an economic component, as countries participate in it. Afghanistan has requested to be present economically, to raise economic issues with the countries, and to establish better channels of communication.”
So far, the member countries of the BRICS organization have not responded to this request from the Taliban.
A few days ago, Nooruddin Aziz, the Taliban Minister of Industry and Trade, sent a letter to Yuri Ushakov, assistant to Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, requesting the participation of this group in the BRICS summit.
The BRICS summit is scheduled to take place with the leaders of the member countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) from October 22 to 24 in the city of Kazan, Russia.
