Iranian Police Declares Hiring and Renting Properties for Undocumented Migrants a Crime

Bayan News – Ahmadreza Radan, the Commander of the Islamic Republic’s police, has recently warned that hiring and renting properties for undocumented migrants will be considered a crime.

This police official stated in a television interview on Saturday (October 5) that more than two million undocumented migrants will be expelled from Iran this year.

He noted that the majority of foreign citizens in Iran are migrants from Afghanistan and mentioned that 500,000 people have been detained and expelled from Iran this year.

Mr. Radan explicitly stated that illegal migrants are not permitted to work or reside, and any Iranian who provides employment or rents housing to undocumented individuals will be deemed guilty and subject to prosecution.

The Commander also reported that over 250,000 undocumented migrants have voluntarily presented themselves to the police and have been expelled, and approximately 750,000 more are expected to be expelled by the end of the year.

However, according to statistics released by officials of the Islamic Republic, at least two million people have migrated from Afghanistan to Iran since the Taliban came to power, with most entering the country through illegal routes.
