Pentagon: We Take Al-Qaeda Threats from Afghan Soil Seriously

Bayan News – Sabrina Singh, Deputy Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of Defense or Pentagon, in her latest remarks, stated that the United States continues to take the threats of al-Qaeda from Afghan soil seriously.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday (October 8), the U.S. defense official said in response to reporters’ questions: “We certainly take it seriously. We still have incredible capabilities in the region.”

According to the Deputy Spokesperson, Over-the-Horizon capabilities are part of these abilities.

These remarks come as recent reports indicate an increase in al-Qaeda’s capabilities in the region, particularly in Afghanistan.

Amid international concerns about the growth of terrorist groups on Afghan soil, the Taliban have assured the global community that no group will use Afghan territory against other countries.

However, just a day earlier, Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, also stated that Washington’s priority regarding Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is to ensure that it can never become a platform for “terrorist” attacks against the United States.
