Qomi: Preventing the Mass Migration of Afghans Discussed at the Moscow Format Meeting
Bayan News – Hassan Kazemi Qomi, ambassador and special representative of the Iranian president for Afghanistan, stated that preventing the increase in Afghan migration and assisting the Taliban in fighting terrorism were key topics at the Moscow Format meeting.
Qomi made these remarks yesterday, October 12, in an exclusive interview with IRNA news agency.
He added that participants in the Moscow Format emphasized serious efforts to combat terrorism in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan and to improve the living conditions of Afghan citizens.
This Iranian diplomat stated: “In the Moscow Format, neighboring countries gathered to help Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism, create conditions for reconstruction, and also prevent the surge of migration.”
According to him, despite global developments, the issue of Afghanistan remains on the agenda for regional countries.
He further expressed: “One of the solutions to Afghanistan’s problems and ways to assist its people is to leverage the capacities of the region and neighboring countries.”
The sixth “Moscow Format” meeting on Afghanistan was held a few days ago, with the participation of representatives from the Taliban, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, attended the meeting.
