Taliban Ambassador in Islamabad: Pakistan is Our Second Home
Bayan News – Sardar Mohammad Shikib, the ambassador of the interim government in Islamabad, says that Kabul never seeks instability for its neighbors and that Pakistan is the second home of Afghans.
He made these remarks on Tuesday (October 29) during a seminar titled “Strengthening Economic Relations between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia.” The seminar was organized by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS).
The diplomat from the interim government stated that some elements might enter Pakistan, but the Kabul government does not allow terrorist groups to use Afghan soil against other countries.
Rejecting any involvement of the current Kabul administration in Pakistan’s unrest, he added, “Pakistan is our second home, and we do not seek instability in this country.”
The Afghan embassy in Islamabad quoted Shikib as saying, “Insecurity in Pakistan negatively affects Afghanistan and the entire region, and Afghanistan never desires war in its neighborhood.”
He stated that the interim government follows an economic policy and aims to bring the entire region together.
These statements come as Pakistani authorities have, over the past year, repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of fostering instability in Pakistan.
The current Pakistani government believes that terrorist groups, including the TTP, are using Afghan territory to fuel insecurity in Pakistan.
At the same time, it has been reported that the Islamabad government has reduced its level of interaction with the Taliban and has not yet appointed a special representative for Afghanistan.
