UK Home Office: Five Thousand Refugees Entered the Country Illegally in October
Bayan News – The UK Home Office announced that in October this year, 5,417 refugees crossed the English Channel and entered the country, showing an unprecedented increase compared to last year.
The ministry stated yesterday (November 1) that only on Thursday, 230 refugees illegally entered British territory.
A spokesperson for the UK Home Office reported that the total number of refugees who have crossed the Channel and entered the UK this year has reached 30,661 people.
The spokesperson added, “We all want to prevent dangerous journeys in small boats that put people’s lives at risk and weaken the security of our borders.”
According to published reports, the results of a new study released last month showed that the UK hosts the highest number of illegal migrants among European countries.
This study, led by researchers from Oxford University, estimates that currently, between 594,000 and 745,000 illegal migrants reside in the UK.
The spokesperson for the UK Home Office further accused human trafficking gangs of “exploiting” migrants, saying that these gangs operate solely to obtain money from migrants and do not care if they survive or die.
He emphasized that the UK will spare no effort in dismantling these gangs’ businesses and bringing them to justice.
