Taliban Government Cultural Official: Mullah Hibatullah Has Religious Reservations About Video Publication

Bayan News – Zia-ul-Haq Haqmal, Deputy Minister of Publications at the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, stated that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada has “scientific and religious” reservations regarding the publication of photos and videos through the media.

This cultural official, speaking on Thursday (November 7) at a meeting with media officials and journalists in Balkh province, added that the media law drafted by the Taliban had been sent to the leader of the group once, but he rejected it.

The law was returned because some provisions were not clear, and it was emphasized that further work was needed.

The Deputy Minister of Publications at the Taliban’s interim government Ministry of Information and Culture explained that detailed work has been done on the media law, and it will soon be resubmitted for approval.

He stated that with the approval of the media law, many issues would be resolved. He added, “There are certain topics where we are currently in the dark.

Colleagues don’t know what to do in this area, such as the issue of photos and videos… In this regard, our leadership and yours have reservations from both a scientific and religious perspective. This reservation has existed previously, but now, media is a necessity, so we will act based on necessity.”

He also referred to the issuance of directives concerning television broadcasts by certain media outlets as propaganda against the Taliban.
