Insulting Comments Against Afghans:;German Politician Fined 18,000 Euros
Bayan News – Detlef Gürth, a former member of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament and member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has been fined 18,000 euros by a German court for making racist and insulting comments toward Afghans.
German media reported on Saturday (November 9) that a court in Halle (Saale) issued a ruling stating that this politician must pay a daily fine of 200 euros over the next 90 days.
This German politician, referring to a stabbing incident involving an Afghan refugee during a football match, wrote on the platform X: “This country needs to be cleansed of Afghans.”
According to published reports, he also defended police action against Afghans, stating that “this filth should be removed from Germany.” Although he deleted his post, an investigation by the prosecutor’s office began after a complaint from Henriette Quade, a member of the Left Party in parliament.
Quade described the comments as offensive and incitement to hatred. She argued that such language is a form of hate speech and goes against Germany’s constitutional principles, which support human dignity and equal rights.
This incident follows an event around five months ago when an Afghan refugee killed another Afghan in a stabbing incident and subsequently attacked several spectators during the opening game of Euro 2024 in eastern Germany, injuring three people. The attacker was shot dead by police.
