Taliban Interim Government Announces Extraction of 21 Major Mines in Afghanistan
Bayan News – The Economic Deputy Office of the Taliban’s interim government announced on Sunday, November 10, the extraction of 21 major mines in Afghanistan.
The Economic Deputy Office of the Taliban Prime Minister provided details, stating that the extraction will include natural resources such as gold, rubies, lead, zinc, iron, chromite, barite, coal, and raw materials for cement production.
According to the office, gold mines are located in the districts of Chah Ab in Takhar and Doshi in Baghlan. The ruby mine is in Jagdalak district in Kabul, iron mines are in the districts of Ghoryan and Pashtun Zarghun in Herat, and the lead and zinc mine is in the Tolak district of Ghor province.
Additionally, the Taliban plan to extract cement raw materials in the districts of Jabal Saraj in Parwan, Zindajan in Herat, and Shorandam in Kandahar.
However, the Taliban government has not provided details regarding the contracts for these extractions. Since coming to power, the interim government has focused extensively on Afghanistan’s mining sector, awarding extraction contracts to both domestic and international companies over the past three years.
