Taliban Minister Calls on Afghans to Obey the Law of Promotion of Virtue

Bayan News – Khalid Hanafi, the Taliban’s acting Minister for the Promotion of Virtue, during his visit to Herat province in western Afghanistan, called on the people to unite in obedience to the law of promotion of virtue.

On Sunday, November 10, at a gathering held in Herat city aimed at implementing this law, Hanafi stated that citizens should cooperate in its enforcement. He claimed that these laws are based on Islamic Sharia, although some foreign media are promoting negative propaganda against them.

The Taliban have previously sought public cooperation in enforcing their laws. They have also requested mosque imams to explain the Taliban’s law of amr bil ma’ruf wa nahi ‘an al-munkar (promotion of virtue and prevention of vice) to the people.

This law, much of which is focused on women, has faced widespread international criticism.
