Trump Names Defense and CIA Heads
Bayan News – U.S. media outlets have reported that Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has nominated Pete Hegseth, Fox News host, for Secretary of Defense and John Ratcliffe, his ally, to head the CIA.
According to Reuters, Trump has also nominated Elon Musk to manage a new organization called the “Government Efficiency Office.”
The report notes that Pete Hegseth, 44, a NATO skeptic, could be one of Trump’s most surprising picks.
However, Trump, in a statement, described Hegseth as tough and smart, and said that under his leadership, the U.S. military would regain its greatness.
On Tuesday, the President-elect also announced that he had chosen John Ratcliffe, one of his close allies who served as Director of National Intelligence at the end of his first term, to be the new head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
According to published reports, Ratcliffe served as the U.S. chief spy from late May 2020 until Trump left office in January 2021.
Donald Trump has nominated Elon Musk for a position aimed at creating a more efficient government, which would also grant the world’s richest man greater influence.
