Qatar and Turkey Leaders Emphasize Inclusive Governance in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The leaders of Qatar and Turkey issued a joint statement calling for inclusive governance in Afghanistan and stressing the need to respect the fundamental rights of its people.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, and Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, issued the statement on the occasion of the 10th meeting of the High Strategic Committee between the two nations.

The 10th meeting of the Turkey-Qatar High Strategic Committee was held on Thursday in Ankara.

In the joint statement, Turkey and Qatar reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and ensuring stability in Afghanistan.

According to the statement, the leaders of Qatar and Turkey emphasized the importance of respecting fundamental rights, establishing inclusive governance in Afghanistan, the need for coordinated engagement with the country, and the continuation of humanitarian aid and sustainable development for its people, as determined by independent assessments.

However, respect for human rights and the formation of an inclusive government remain shared demands of several countries toward the Taliban, which have so far not responded to these requests.

Currently, under Taliban rule in Afghanistan, women and girls are deprived of their basic rights. The Taliban government is entirely male and composed of Taliban members.

On the other hand, the Taliban government has consistently responded to such concerns, stating that the current system in Afghanistan is inclusive and represents all ethnic groups in the country.
