Taliban Local Officials in Herat Banned from Conducting Video Interviews with the Media
Bayan News – It has been reported that the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Herat has ordered all local officials in the province to refrain from conducting video interviews with the media.
Local sources have stated that the Ministry issued this directive on Saturday (November 16), sending a letter to the government offices in Herat to notify them of the order.
Afghan-related media, quoting informed sources, have also reported that this move comes after the Ministry’s forces prevented media from filming during the Saffron Festival in Herat. However, Mohajer Farahi, the deputy governor, opposed this and initially gave a video interview with journalists.
Local Taliban officials have not officially commented on the publication of this report.
Herat is one of several provinces where media and journalists are prohibited from filming and publishing images of living creatures.
According to the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the publication of images of living beings and the filming of living creatures is prohibited under the law.
The Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that this law will be gradually enforced across Afghanistan.
