Saudi Arabia has executed three Afghan citizens in one year

Bayan News – International media reports indicate that Saudi Arabia has executed 101 foreign nationals this year, including three Afghan citizens, on various charges.

According to Agence France-Presse, the number of foreign nationals executed in Saudi Arabia has tripled compared to two years ago.

Based on the report from the French media, those executed include 21 Pakistani citizens, 20 Yemenis, 14 Syrians, 10 Nigerians, 9 Egyptians, 8 Jordanians, 7 Ethiopians, 3 from Sudan, India, and Afghanistan, as well as one Sri Lankan, Eritrean, and Filipino.

Meanwhile, the European-Saudi Human Rights Organization in Berlin, referring to this report, announced that the number of executions this year in Saudi Arabia is unprecedented.

Taha Al-Haji, the legal director of this organization, stated: “This is the largest number of foreign nationals executed in a single year. Saudi Arabia has never executed 100 foreign nationals in one year before.”

However, Amnesty International had previously stated that Saudi Arabia was the third country with the highest number of executions in 2023, after China and Iran.
