UN: 24 Mothers Die Daily in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reports that, since the beginning of this year, it has provided vital assistance to 3.5 million pregnant women and new mothers.

In a statement on Sunday (November 17) on the platform X, the UNFPA expressed concern that mothers in Afghanistan face serious risks due to social and economic challenges.

According to the UN, the recent year’s assistance to mothers in Afghanistan has been provided with support from the U.S. Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

The UNFPA also noted that Afghanistan is one of the countries with the highest maternal mortality rates.

According to statistics from the UN agency, 24 mothers and 167 newborns in Afghanistan die daily from preventable causes.

It has also been reported this year that due to the lack of health centers, several mothers die every day in Afghanistan.
