Blinken to Provide Further Explanations to Congress on U.S. Withdrawal from Afghanistan

Bayan News – Reports indicate that Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, will once again provide explanations to the U.S. Congress regarding the hasty withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan.

Michael McCaul, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, stated in a press release on Tuesday, November 26, that he has compelled Blinken to testify again about the rushed U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee clarified that Blinken had ignored multiple requests from the committee to testify about the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

McCaul noted that Blinken agreed to testify only after being threatened with charges of “contempt of Congress.”

According to McCaul, Blinken is set to appear before Congress on December 11 of this year to provide his explanations.

However, the House Foreign Affairs Committee has repeatedly called the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration a shameful process, adding that Antony Blinken was also involved in the decision-making.
