Bayan News – U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the establishment of a ceasefire in Lebanon, emphasizing that Israel will continue to maintain its full freedom of military action.
Biden told reporters: “Israel and Lebanon have accepted the ceasefire agreement, and in the event of a violation, Israel’s defense will be ensured.”
The U.S. president stated that Israel has destroyed Hezbollah’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon, adding: “In the next 60 days, the Lebanese army will regain control of its territory.”
He further clarified: “The Israeli army will gradually withdraw, and Israeli civilians will return to their homes.”
Biden emphasized that U.S. forces will not be deployed in southern Lebanon, but that the U.S. and France will work together to ensure the agreement is implemented.
The U.S. president also mentioned that his administration is continuing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, and that there is a possibility of Saudi Arabia and Israel normalizing their relations.
According to published reports, the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon came into effect in the early hours of today, Wednesday.
