The Taliban’s Ambassador in the UAE Calls for the Transfer of Prisoners to Afghanistan
Bayan News – Badruddin Haqqani, the acting Taliban government’s ambassador to Abu Dhabi, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and requested facilitation of the process for transferring Afghan prisoners to Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the acting Taliban government announced on Saturday (November 30) that its ambassador had met with the UAE President in Abu Dhabi.
Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesperson for the ministry, wrote on the platform X that the Taliban ambassador also requested that the UAE ease the issuance of visas for Afghan citizens.
According to the deputy spokesperson, the two sides also discussed Afghanistan’s general situation, developments, and opportunities during the meeting.
Takal added that the UAE President promised cooperation and referred to Afghanistan as a “brotherly nation.”
Recently, the UAE formally accepted Badruddin Haqqani’s credentials as the Taliban’s ambassador to Abu Dhabi.
Although the UAE has not officially recognized the Taliban regime, it has established close political and economic relations with them.
Earlier, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, and Hamdullah Wasiq, the Director General of Intelligence, also visited the UAE.
