Syria War; Foreign Ministers of Iran and Turkey Discuss Regional Stability
Bayan News – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey met on Monday (December 2) for a press conference to discuss the ongoing war in Syria and regional developments.
Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, after his visit to Syria and meeting with Bashar al-Assad, traveled to Turkey to engage in discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, discussions were held on bilateral relations as well as the latest regional developments, particularly regarding Syria.
According to the Ministry, Araghchi emphasized the necessity of cooperation and synergy between the regional countries, particularly Iran and Turkey, to safeguard and protect regional stability and security.
Araghchi also added during the press conference: “The recent movements of terrorist groups in Syria and the expansion of instability and insecurity in the country align with the goals of the Zionists (Israel).”
He stated that Islamic countries and all countries in the region have a shared responsibility to stop these aggressions, prevent Israel from exploiting the situation, and provide special attention and assistance to the displaced people in Gaza and Lebanon as winter approaches and the conditions for the people worsen.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s foreign minister emphasized the importance of expanding relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey, while expressing concern that the insecurity and instability in Syria have negative consequences for the countries of the region.
This comes after last Wednesday, when the group “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” and its allies launched large-scale attacks on the Syrian city of Aleppo. After the withdrawal of government forces, the city was captured.
It is reported that many of these opposition groups to Bashar al-Assad’s government are supported by Turkey and some other countries.
