Emergency Martial Law in South Korea
Bayan News – South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol unexpectedly declared martial law during a televised address on Tuesday, December 3.
In his speech, he stated that the purpose of this declaration is to protect the constitution and counter threats posed by North Korean forces and anti-government movements within South Korea.
The South Korean president said: “I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of South Korea from the threat of North Korea’s communist forces, to root out the despicable anti-government forces supporting North Korea that plunder the freedom and happiness of our people, and to safeguard the free constitutional order.”
However, according to published reports, the entrance to South Korea’s parliament has been sealed off, preventing representatives from entering the building.
