Netanyahu Orders the Reclamation of the Buffer Zone on the Syria-Israel Border
Bayan News – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the buffer zone on the Syria-Israel border, established under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, to be brought back under the control of the Israeli military.
According to international media reports published on Sunday (December 8), this order was issued following the withdrawal of Syrian army forces and the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Netanyahu emphasized that this move is aimed at ensuring the security of Israel’s borders and preventing the deployment of hostile forces in the area.
He also claimed that Israel was the initiator of a series of events that led to the downfall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. During a visit to Mount Bental, Netanyahu stated: “The Assad regime was a central link in the axis of evil of the Islamic Republic, and this regime has fallen.”
The Israeli Prime Minister added that these developments are the result of Israel’s strikes against the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah, the main supporters of the Assad regime. He warned that Assad’s fall presents an opportunity for Israel but also carries inherent risks.
