The Interim Government Congratulates Tahrir al-Sham on the Overthrow of Assad’s Government
Bayan News – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the interim government has welcomed the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria and congratulated the Tahrir al-Sham group for eliminating the “main cause of war and instability.”
On Sunday evening, December 8, the ministry issued a statement expressing hope that the situation in Syria would be effectively managed to establish and consolidate peace and unity in the country.
The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the interim government regarding the transfer of power in Syria read:”It should be carried out in a manner aligned with the aspirations of the Syrian people and pave the way for the establishment of an independent, service-oriented Islamic government that emphasizes national reconciliation, avoids division and revenge, and adopts a general amnesty policy to strengthen unity among all Syrians.”
The Ministry also highlighted the importance of adopting a constructive foreign policy to move forward without foreign interference or negative rivalries, creating favorable conditions for the safe return of millions of displaced Syrian citizens.
The statement added: “Policies of constructive engagement and cooperation should be adopted so that Syria can progress on the path of unity, security, and stability.”
Assad’s government, after 40 years in power, was overthrown early this morning by insurgent groups led by Tahrir al-Sham following 11 days of conflict.
Simultaneously, celebrations were held in several provinces of Afghanistan, including Khost, to mark Tahrir al-Sham’s victory in Syria.
