Russia Grants Asylum to Assad and His Family; Moscow Does Not Betray Its Friends
Bayan News – Russian media have reported that Bashar al-Assad and his family are in Moscow, where the Russian government has granted them asylum.
According to Sputnik, a source in the Russian Presidential Palace stated on Sunday evening, December 8, that Bashar al-Assad left Syria after rebels entered Damascus.
With his departure from Syria, the 54-year rule of the Assad family came to an end, and control of the country was taken over by rebel groups led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
Additionally, a senior Russian diplomat noted that Moscow stood by Bashar al-Assad during the difficult circumstances of his removal from power and did not abandon him.
The Russian representative to international organizations in Vienna stated:”Moscow does not betray its friends, and this is the difference between Russia and the United States.”
The Assad regime ended after 24 years, and now Islamist insurgents have taken power in Syria.
