Bayan News – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced precision airstrikes against ISIS facilities and operatives in central Syria.
According to a statement from CENTCOM, on Sunday, December 8, precision airstrikes were conducted on 75 targets associated with ISIS and its operatives in central Syria.
The statement noted that these strikes were part of an ongoing mission aimed at destroying, dismantling, and defeating ISIS to prevent the group from carrying out external operations and to ensure it does not exploit the current situation in Syria.
CENTCOM reported that the strikes were carried out using B-52 bombers and F-15 and A-10 fighter jets.
The U.S. Central Command also stated that there were no indications of civilian casualties during the airstrikes.
Additionally, U.S. President Joe Biden, commenting on the strikes against ISIS, affirmed that Washington will not allow ISIS to take advantage of the power vacuum in Syria.
Biden further stated that the United States is closely monitoring ISIS’s attempts to exploit the vacuum to rebuild and resurge, and will not allow such efforts to succeed.
However, with the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, there are concerns that ISIS may re-emerge in Syria.
