Russia-Ukraine War; 30 North Korean Soldiers Killed or Injured in the Kursk Region
Bayan News – International media, citing the Ukrainian military, have reported that approximately 30 North Korean soldiers were killed or injured in the Kursk region of Russia.
Agence France-Presse reported on Monday (December 16), quoting the Ukrainian military, that the North Korean soldiers had been killed or wounded over the past two days.
According to the Ukrainian military, these casualties occurred in the villages of Plekhov, Vorozhba, and Martinovka in the Kursk region of Russia.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, had previously stated that Russia had begun deploying a “significant number” of North Korean troops in the Kursk region to push back Ukrainian forces.
Published reports suggest that Western officials estimated North Korea has sent at least 10,000 troops to assist Russia in its war against Ukraine.
Since the onset of the war in Ukraine, Russia and North Korea—both heavily sanctioned by Western countries—have strengthened their ties.
However, North Korea has yet to officially confirm the presence of its soldiers in the Russia-Ukraine war.
