Commander of Russia’s Radiological Defense Forces Assassinated in Moscow

Bayan News – Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s radiological, chemical, and biological defense forces, and his assistant were killed in an explosion in the city of Moscow.

Russia Today reported that the explosion occurred early Tuesday morning (December 17) near a residential building in southeastern Moscow.

Russian government officials confirmed that two people, including General Igor Kirillov, head of the Ministry of Defense’s chemical and biological defense forces, were killed in the explosion.

Meanwhile, the Russian Investigative Committee, while confirming the incident, added that an explosive device planted on a street in Moscow had detonated.

It has been reported that a criminal case has been opened regarding the murder of Kirillov and his assistant.

The 54-year-old general had led the radiological, chemical, and biological defense forces since 2017.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
