Bayan News – German media reported on Saturday (December 21), citing Reiner Haseloff, the Prime Minister of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, that an attack by a Saudi citizen left five people dead and 200 others injured.
According to published reports, the incident took place on the evening of the previous day at a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg.
It is reported that the condition of 40 of the injured is critical.
Meanwhile, Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, visited the site of the attack in eastern Germany and described it as a “terrible tragedy.”
The Chancellor stated that the government would respond to this attack with the full force of the law and called for unity among German citizens.
According to German police, the attacker is a Saudi citizen who had been working as a doctor in the country since 2006.
Police stated that the motive for the incident remains unclear, and it is suspected that he acted alone.
It is worth noting that Germany has witnessed several deadly attacks on public gatherings this year, with some of these incidents perpetrated by Afghan citizens.
