Interim Government’s Foreign Ministry: Pakistan’s Irresponsible Actions Will Have Consequences

Bayan News – The Foreign Ministry of the Interim Government announced that in response to airstrikes by Pakistan’s military on areas in Paktika province, they summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires and handed over a formal protest letter.

The ministry stated on Wednesday evening (December 25) in a statement that the chargé d’affaires of Pakistan’s embassy was summoned earlier today, and the airstrikes by the Pakistani military were strongly condemned.

According to the Foreign Ministry, while a representative of Pakistan’s civilian government is engaging in discussions with officials in Kabul, the violation of Afghan territory by Pakistan’s military and the killing of civilians represent an effort by certain Pakistani actors to sow distrust between the two countries.

The statement from the ministry emphasized that the Taliban would not, under any circumstances, accept a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and are prepared to defend their independence and territorial integrity.

The Foreign Ministry stated: “The Pakistani side was informed that protecting Afghanistan’s national sovereignty is a red line for the Islamic Emirate, and such irresponsible actions will undoubtedly have consequences.”

This comes as Pakistani fighter jets bombed areas in Bermal district of Paktika province last night.

Hamidullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Interim Government, announced today that the Pakistani military targeted four locations in Bermal district, resulting in 46 deaths and six injuries.

He stated that most of the victims of these attacks were women and children.
